When we think of the best collaborations in the world of fashion, no doubt Gucci comes to mind without even blinking. The brand, which was the pioneer in the universe of collaborative projects within fashion and digital, has just launched its newest creation: new versions of the G-Timeless watch in collaboration with numerous visual artists from around the world.
Hand-picked by Alessandro Michele, the artists bring different visions and personal perspectives to the new watch. Among the chosen, illustrators, painters and digital artists have created works involving the watch models, each with its own particularity and interpreted in a different creative way, but having the iconic bee - a key decorative element of the maison since 1970 - as the focus.
Representing global diversity, some of them like Winnie Chi from China and Kieron Livingstone from the UK already have a history of collaborations with Gucci, others like Oh and Tishk Barzanji, based in London, Balfua from California, David Macho from Spain, and Andrey Kasay from Russia were recently discovered by maison.
Made in Switzerland, eight variations of G-Timeless feature a 38 mm or 42 mm case; three models combine an 18k yellow gold case with a black onyx stone dial, brown tiger eye or green malachite; five other variants combine a steel case with a lapis lazuli stone dial or a black onyx stone dial. And although each artist has brought his own personal vision to the project, all the creations have in common the dreamy, surreal state of mind typical of Gucci eclecticism.
