L'Officiel Arabia: Can you give a brief introduction of yourself and your work?
Zoe Fioravanti: My name is Zoe Fioravanti, I’m originally from California but I grew up in South Florida. I’m an aspiring singer and songwriter, I am planning to release my first EP in 2022.
L'OA: You’re a fresh face in the music scene. What would you consider your biggest accomplishment up to this point?
ZF: So far, my biggest accomplishment is getting into the studio writing and recording three songs. I had the opportunity to go into the studio with accomplished music producers Louie Lastic and C-Rod to finish my EP. Working and connecting with lots of musicians to learn the business, expanding my knowledge, and strengthening my voice has been a really rewarding experience. And of course landing my first magazine covers and being signed to Wilhelmina!
L'OA: Your self-titled album Fior is set to release in 2022. Can you tell us the message and story you hope to give through this album?
ZF: I envision sharing with the world songs that come from within me, who I am. When it comes to writing lyrics I really want to address heartbreak and relationships as well as my growth and maturity becoming a young adult. I feel like oftentimes we don't like to be open as people about our emotions or things that we are going through. At times, I’m very closed off except for when I’m writing. Being able to express my times of vulnerability through song gives me a feeling that I’m free to speak my mind, I want to create a sound that will touch your soul in a way that cannot be expressed through conversation. I want to be a voice for women who feel like they’re alone in these situations.
L'OA: When did you first fall in love with music and at what age did you realize that you wanted to pursue it as a career?
ZF: When I was 8 years old my dad had bought me a toy piano for Christmas and I fell in love with it. I used that to teach myself how to play piano and that’s what helped me discover that I loved the sound of music. A couple years later I discovered Adele. I fell in love with her voice and her lyrics. She inspired me to want to sing. At the time I was too young to have dealt with heartbreak and love the way Adele had experienced, but something about her voice spoke to me and I wanted to one day tell stories through songs the way she did. I’ve always had hopes and dreams of becoming a singer but didn’t truly start to push myself to sing more until I was in middle school. I was put into choir, theater, dance, anything that could teach me to become a better performer, but I was still very shy and had only sang for the people in my performing arts class. Around the time that I got out of high school I decided singing is what I want to pursue, there was no doubt in my mind that was what I was destined to do.
L'OA: Who are some of your music inspirations?
ZF: A few of my music inspirations are Amy Winehouse, Adele, Lauryn Hill, Stevie Knicks, and Billy Joel. I have a really big music repertoire, but my voice resonates best with Soul, R&B, and Rock ‘n’ Roll.
L'OA: It can be hard to navigate an industry that you’re starting out in, especially when it’s the music or entertainment industry. How do you personally deal with criticism?
ZF: I’m still very fresh in the music industry and I know there will be lots of obstacles I’ll need to face as time goes on. I know that I have an amazing support system surrounding me by the love and encouragement that my family and friends endlessly show me. My parents have always taught me that not everyone will like who I am but that should never stop me from being true to myself. One of my dads biggest lessons to my sister and I was to never quit. His famous words that he would always say to us were “Who are we? We are Fioravanti’s. And what do Fioravanti’s do? We never quit.”
