Brazilian inspiration at the Isabel Marant Spring/Summer 2020 show

Brazilian beach vibes were never far away from Isabel Marant’s Spring/Summer 2020 collection

Perhaps (partly) inspired by the scorching heatwave experienced by France this summer, the SS20 Isabel Marant collection was packed full of short-shorts and light dresses. Models walked down the catwalk to the sound of the samba, while the designer’s inspiration from the modernist landscape architect Roberto Burle Marx was palpable in the scorching collection. The multicoloured animal embroideries and prints were influenced by the work of Salvadoran painter Gennaro De Carvalho, while the figures embroidered on the denim pieces recall the motifs of Colombian painter Omar Rayo. The light dresses and shorts were worn with sandals and feathers, pearls and metallic grigris, so many charms that reveal the esoteric accents of a collection connected to nature.
