It was during Paris Fashion Week when CELINE presented their FW20 women's collection. Creative director Hedi Slimane proposed modern take on 1970s bourgeois look. According to Celine, in FW20 we will live the fantasy of rock-star glamour.
You should watch or re-watch the movie Almost Famous to get in the mood.
Slimane's passion for the dress codes of the Parisian bourgeoisie of the 1970s continued into fall 2020. One of the throwbacks he uses is late-’60s term for the collection: unisex. Since his first collection, Slimane has been promoting unisex ready-to-wear. His androgynous tailoring has been mostly modelled by men but is made to fit women, too. There was no separate menswear show held this January, and the menswear will be available for women, and the womenswear for men. 21st century novelty: both genders can also carry the Sulky handbag, dating from 1966, which Slimane has reintroduced from the Celine archive. Velvet had its Renaissance moment at Celine fashion show. Fur, too. Another centrepiece of Celine’s AW20 was embroidery, done entirely by hand. Embroidered vests and dresses added an element of bohemian fashion to the otherwise dominant retro-rock chic mood. But, some think that the most exciting touch was the house’s return to Celine Sulky, a historic horse and cart emblem that was born in 1966.
New Celine jewellery line is built around the unique characteristics of each stone. Rock crystal, tyger's eye, amethyst, smoky quartz, pyrite, shungite, hematite, star mica, berite. Hedi Slimane carefully chose each of the stones for their symbolic meaning, their historical and cultural signifance, as well for their beauty. Set in metal frame, each Cristaux Celine jewellery piece is unique.
