There’s no denying that, in its long and prominent history, the fashion industry has more often than not represented one standard of beauty. From runways to advertising, brands in days past have typically veered towards models of a typical age, size, and culture/ethnicity – but we all know the world is a much richer tapestry. 

In recent years, the industry has been doing more to champion diversity, and many have said the past season has been the most diverse yet in terms of race, age, gender, and size. And brands such as Leem, a homegrown brand from the Middle East, are leading the way in inclusivity, producing collections that don't dictate the boundaries or protocols of dressing but rather provide the tools and aesthetic to style your look the way you want. And Leem is not alone, from Opening Ceremony to Versace to Vivienne Westwood, labels around the world have become a more welcoming place for models of all ethnic backgrounds, sizes, and gender identifications—but there are still plenty of improvements to be made.
