Following Gucci Guilty’s retro rendition of Hollywood, Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele continues to instil movie-like qualities into his campaigns. For its Spring/Summer 2019 eyewear campaign launching this month, the Italian brand collaborated with photographer Hugo Scott and art director Christopher Simmonds to create a fictitious road movie inspired by cinematic imagery.

Set in a whimsical, vibrant manner, Gucci’s muse Ni Ni is seen as a traveller trying to hitch a ride “Outta Here” and “Somewhere” along a desert highway in the heat of the day.

The L’Officiel September 2018 cover star serves up the Gucci fashion look once again with two key styles: a cherry-red parabolic-shaped lenses with a gold-tone metal frame, and a timeless rectangular optical frame with temples adorned with Gucci lettering and the Double G motif.

Ni Ni, a Chinese actress who has been the face of Gucci’s eyewear collection for the past four seasons, rose to fame for her role in director Zhang Yimou’s The Flowers of War in 2011. She has since appeared in blockbusters The Warriors Gate and Fleet of Time. Most recently, she starred in her first television drama The Rise of Phoenixes and the film The Thousand Faces of Dunjia.
