The upcoming winter season marks a big milestone for Pierre Hardy, as his eponymous label is celebrating 20 years making its mark on luxury footwear. The designer, who had previous experience and connections from collaborating with multiple luxury brands, struck out on his own in 1999 when he wanted to leave his own creative signature on footwear. Since then, Hardy has built a portfolio of shoe designs that play with inspirations from culture, art, and architecture, helping to define the 21st-century footwear scene.

With two decades of work at his brand behind him, Hardy is celebrating his accomplishments through a capsule collection launching exclusively with Barneys New York. The line is a retrospective on past designs, re-releasing a lucky thirteen styles that originated between Winter 1999 and Winter 2017. Together, the curation displays the range and vibrancy of the footwear designer's approach, highlighting pieces like the Oh Roy!, a Winter 2014 nod to Lichtenstein and manga featuring cartoon doe eyes, and the Marfa, a cut-out cowboy boot from Winter 2015 that makes an artsy statement perfect to bring back as musicians like Lil Nas X and Megan Thee Stallion reinvent Western aesthetics.

Hardy and Barney's are especially highlighting a re-edit of the Blade, a Winter 1999 stiletto that helped to put the footwear brand on the map with its sharp, thin heel and reinventive shape. Classic yet slightly unconventional, the shoe meets in the middle of stiletto and pump territory for a look that has come to define the designer's eponymous label and fit into a range of aesthetics. In celebration, Hardy has released several sketches that colorfully convey the modern feeling of the shoes.

Starting today, the capsule is available at Barneys on Madison Avenue as well as the department store's website. The Blade heel will also be available at Pierre Hardy stores in New York, Paris, and Tokyo and online at With waves of nostalgia continuing to embrace the late '90s and early aughts, prepare to see some architectural, graphic interpretations on these trends as people begin to rock the retrospective collection.
