After Helmut Newton, Herb Ritts, Annie Leibovitz and Karl Lagerfeld, last May, it was the Italian photographer Paolo Roversi who took the lead in the 2020 edition of the highly anticipated Pirelli calendar. For this new edition, he invited nine exceptional women to interpret the role of one of the most famous of lovers: Juliette Capulet. Captured three months ago in Paris and Verona, the shoot features actresses Claire Foy, Mia Goth, Emma Watson, Indya Moore, Yara Shahidi, Kristen Stewart, Chinese singer Chris Lee, Spanish singer Rosalia and Franco-Italian artist Stella Roversi.
Paolo Roversi's project, which includes actresses and singers from different cultures and countries, is inspired by the love, power, youth and beauty embodied in the Shakespearean drama and its heroine. Modern women in taffeta dresses and thick-soled sneakers, the Juliettes 2020 take their place in dark and refined settings. A sober backdrop, to better express the work of the photographer known for his melancholic portraits. "I'm always looking for my Juliet and I'll look for her all my life. Because Juliette is a dream," says Paolo Roversi about his calendar. While we wait for the final calendar, here are some of the backstage shots, which have already been revealed.
