The beginning of the year always excites with the promise of new beginnings, but the imminent arrival of 2020 is particularly momentous, as it denotes not just a new year, but also a new decade, and the start of a new cycle in the Chinese zodiac. Considering the significance of the event, it’s no wonder Givenchy has chosen to celebrate this occasion with a capsule devoted to the star of the coming year, the rat.
The limited edition collection revolves around a special Year of the Rat motif: a four-lobed design comprising four rats in undulating profile, overlaid with graphic lines for a labyrinthine effect. Evocative of the maison’s signature 4-G logo as well as the peach blossoms that symbolise romance and prosperity during this time, the motif features on a selection of apparel in black and white. For women, it blooms pink on a t-shirt, cropped sweatshirt, V-necked jumper, and floor-length parka, while for men it strikes in red on a t-shirt, hoodie, sweater, and windbreaker.
