After a long day spent between zoom meetings and calls, there’s nothing more appealing than spending the evening watching a good movie; even better if it's a good old classic romantic comedy set under the snow during Christmas’s time, are we wrong? The Holidate, the new Netflix movie with Emma Roberts and Luke Bracey is available from today and it might be just the right guilty pleasure for a casual night in that we need. The film tells the story of Sloane and Jackson, two singles who hate being alone during holidays where they constantly face the judgment from their meddling families. So, when these two strangers meet, they pledge to be each other’s date for every festive occasion in the year ahead. Might sounds cliché and a little cheesy but the cast is so adorable (other than Scream Queens’s queen there’s also Gray’s Anatomy power blonde Jessica Capshaw and Kristin Chenoweth) that you will not leave the movie in between.
And if you’re not into Holiday’s movies (but how could you not?) there’s another reason to watch it: the vintage clothes are exceptional. Robert’s character dress with certain irreverence and flair, and mostly of her wardrobe is vintage; like the daisy top wore for Earth's day was found in a random craft fair, the leopard coat (Emma's favorite) is vintage from Western Costume House and you can also spot some early 2000s Juicy Couture track pants! Other pieces are from Anine Bing, Bec and Bridge (mostly the dresses), Moschino (the Thanksgiving cardigan), Citizens of Humanity (authentic vintage vibes with their jeans), Maui Jim for sunglasses, and also a sexy and fun pirate costume made by Trashy Lingerie, an iconic Los Angeles store, that could really work well for your zoom Halloween party this year.
What are you waiting for? watch the Holidate on Netflix, like, immediately!
