From Coachella to Governor's Ball, many of us might be feeling like our biggest disappointment of the year is the cancellation of our favorite music festivals. As music lovers ourselves, we completely understand, and here at L'Officiel, we have been working on a way to bring the joy of festival season right to your home. We are launching L'Officiel On Tour; a daily dose of fun and entertainment with original content created by talents from all over the world. Get ready to not just put on your dancing shoes – but also your favorite yoga pants, and prepare to embrace some new cooking skills because we are offering more than just music with each installation. Think of it as a modern Woodstock that takes place exclusively online.
Tune in every day on @lofficielusa for a concert straight to your home, a cooking lesson, a reading session and chances to discover a medley of new skills. The L'Officiel On Tour is our personal cultural project that celebrates creativity, hope and unity, in partnership with our friends at Onitsuka Tiger.
On Tour: Week One
To kick off the tour, model Caroline Vreeland who is in quarantine in Québec, hosts a fashion week-themed 'after-party' where she cooks spaghetti and plays Scrabble on the tunes of "Drinking For 2" from her new album "Notes on Sex and Wine". Following Vreeland, producer, composer, DJ and member of the @majorlazer project, Diplo, will be making a guest appearance. He's worked with a variety of artists, from Dua Lipa to Justin Bieber, to Ellie Goulding and Charli XCX. He released not one, but five new tracks on April 21st as a teaser for his next album. For his On Tour segment, he chose to improvise a romantic serenade performed with a classical guitar.
Leading us in daily yoga sessions is the beloved dancer Anna Der Pahlen, who has trained in contemporary dance at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London. Der Pahlen is spending her time in isolation in Switzerland, where she will share bite-sized daily yoga and meditation sessions. To illuminate the new normal of Saturday nights at home, the DJ and actor Myles O'Neal will be live from Los Angeles. He is currently spending his quarantine with his family and another noteworthy DJ; basketball legend Shaquille O'Neal. To celebrate the weekend, he created a mix of cult hits from the 2000s.
Puma Rose Buck, who may be more aptly known for walking the runways of Miu Miu and Marc Jacobs cooks a stew from her home, with a simple and versatile recipe that is perfect for cold spring nights. At the end of the first week of our On Tour series, viewers can look forward to closing performances by Grammy-award-winning singer John Legend, and Massachusetts-based musician Cautious Clay who recently released his new single remote recorded 'Cheeshin' with friends, to benefit the @musicares organization, a COVID-19 Relief Fund. Clay will share with viewers a new way to create a song without using any instruments.
We are not only excited to connect with all our readers through our On Tour series, but would also like to take this time to express our gratitude to the first responders and healthcare workers who continuously sacrifice to keep us and our loved ones safe, and inspire us to constantly look for new ways to support our community.
On Tour: Week Two
The second week of On Tour kicks off with Ashley Longshore, a contemporary artist, and darling of the fashion system. Anna Wintour, Ruth Bader-Ginsberg and Queen Elizabeth II often make their appearance in her paintings which blend pop culture, consumerism, feminism and flashy humor. Longshore shares a recipe for cooking delicious biscuits, in a performance version and over the top.
Next up, Grammy-nominated choreographer, director, and performer Ryan Heffington lipsyncs with Emma Stone and dances at full speed during his live daily workouts on Instagram. Heffington is the brain behind Sia's choreography and music video "Chandelier", the choreographer for Ansel Elgort in "Baby Driver" and "The OA" on Netflix. Heffington is followed by Charli XCX who has transformed her home into a recording studio. The British singer and producer living in Los Angeles - who collaborated with Troye Sivan, Lizzo and Christine and the Queens - performs "Forever,” the first single of her Quarantine album how i’m feeling now, which drops May 15th.
Photographer Richie Shazam is a regular on the catwalk, after parading for Vivienne Westwood and participating in Thom Browne's campaign, he’s here with L'Officiel On Tour. "I used this time to explore new ways and ways of expressing myself. Seeing the world through a new lens has reinvigorated my spirit and my passion for creation,” Shazam said. He shares a visual performance and an immersive video projection.
On Saturday evening, we have a DJ set with model and DJ Ashley Smith, while on Sunday, a drawing lesson and volumetric rendering with the artist Simon Haas. The artist collaborates with his brother Nikolai who, together, make up the duo @theHaasBrothers. The brothers have collaborated on installing works for Lady Gaga and Donatella Versace. Their works are part of the collections that remain in the LACMA and MET Museum.
