Raf Simons, Creative Director at Raf Simons:
“We’d been thinking about it for quite a long time, then we thought it would be interesting to do it when the brand had existed for 25 years. I had a lot of reactions from young people who wanted pieces, and who weren’t even born when we were making certain pieces! I was thinking a lot about the access, that it’s a pity we cannot offer them anymore. But at the same time, I was thinking is it wrong to the people who have been paying a lot of money for the archive pieces and they might be a bit upset. Then I thought at the end it’s only 100 pieces out of 25 years. But it was not so easy to decide. Was it emotional? Maybe in certain moments because it is very much connected to memories. But it was interesting, curious.”
Natalie Kingham, Global Fashion Officer at MATCHESFASHION
"We have long admired Raf Simons and worked closely with the brand to launch the menswear collections for our womenswear customers. The brand’s exploration of traditional menswear with a rebellious youthful spirit has a unique appeal to our female customer. We are delighted to launch the first womenswear collection for SS21 and to be showcasing iconic designs from the last 25 years of Raf Simons via the Archive Redux collection. We expect his dedicated following will be ecstatic to find these special pieces once more."
Damien Paul, Head of Menswear at MATCHESFASHION:
"Raf Simons has been a key brand within our MATCHESFASHION portfolio because as a designer, he has consistently driven change across men’s fashion via the Raf Simons label. His aesthetic, the way he shows the collections and builds on the signatures of the brand season on season is an inspiring narrative to watch. We immediately knew that many of our customers would be very excited about Archive Redux, and we are therefore thrilled to be able to offer these pieces that provide a slice of fashion history."
