L'Officiel Arabia: When and how did you decide to be a model?
Meryam Errachdy: When I was 18, I entered a styling competition called Je suis la mode and I ended up being in the top ten winners. This made me confident enough to enter the modeling world.
LOA: How was your experience at Miss Arab World pageant?
ME: It was an amazing experience because we did many activities throughout the day and we got to enjoy the beauty of Lebanon.
LOA:From where do you find your fashion inspirations?
ME: I don’t necessarily get my inspiration from one source. I like to always switch it up and change whenever I feel like it while keeping it trendy. I could be following high-end designers one day and less known local brands the day after. However, I always prefer to keep my style simply elegant, classy and chic. I’m sure by now whoever knows me know that black is my main go to color on any occasion.
LOA: How has the UAE influenced you and your creativity?
ME: UAE is known for THE go to country for shopping because of its large variety of brands from all over the world. People from different nationalities are also here sharing their culture and taste in fashion. It has allowed me to explore styles out of my comfort zone and gave me opportunities to work with several brands and great people.
LOA: What is your secret to success?
ME: My secret is simple, I love what I do and I believe that when you’re passionate about your work you put more genuine effort into every step you take. I am confident enough to focus only on myself and not on the success or failure of others. I also don’t allow peoples criticism to affect my progress because not everyone is capable to see what I see.
LOA: Who has inspired you the most in your career and life?
ME: When it comes to life, I have to mention my hard working mother who always fills me with positive energy, love and care. She has pushed me to pursue my dreams and never stopped believing in me ever since I was a child. I was really inspired by the success of Huda beauty and how she went from a young girl in finance to a world wide phenomenon in the makeup industry by following what she truly loves.
LOA: Are you associated with any charity groups?
ME: Yes, I have taken part in sponsoring orphans with the exceptional help of the Emirates Red Crescent.
LOA: What next for Meryem?
ME: I’m looking forward to pursue a career in the media industry for now and I have been recently considering to become a news anchor. Apart from that, I want to work harder on myself and eventually become a universally known influencer to the younger generation.
